Citizen Portal (Ügyfélkapu/Ügyfélkapu+)

The Citizen Portal is the Hungarian government's electronic user access and identification system. It enables its users to securely connect to electronic public administration and service providers while verifying their identity.

The citizen portal can be accessed at www.magyarorszag.hu.

Any legal person can start the Citizen Portal registration at the diplomatic mission or consulate.

The following are required to register:
  • a valid identity card or passport or, if this is not possible, a driver's license in card format issued after 1 January 2001
  • In addition, the applicant needs to provide a unique username of their choice and an email address, as this is the address where they will receive the one-time access code for the first login.
Please note that citizens holding an ID (ESZIG card with a data storage means will be able to create their first citizen portal registration, which requires a document number and a one-time registration code (which will be provided together with the PIN and PUK code of the document), from their home without the need to come in person. Citizens can access the service at http://ugyfelkapu.gov.hu.

As of January 16, 2025, the single-factor Ügyfélkapu login mode will be discontinued and replaced by the Ügyfélkapu+ service. Ügyfélkapu+ is a two-factor form of authentication, i.e. a pre-registered username and password (first factor) is complemented by a one-time code generated by the authentication application (second factor). The second factor is provided by a one-time password generated by an application downloaded to an electronic device (phone, tablet or desktop computer) owned by the user. The application for the Ügyfélkapu+ service, which provides a higher level of security access, must be initiated by the user and cannot be carried out by our Consulate General.
